Back at Conesus

After 16 hours straight in the car I'm happy to say we arrived at our destination safe and sound - although worn out. Even though these sketches were done on the 15th, my brain really hadn't recovered from the drive, thus the date of the 16th :)

The lighting on the water was lovely yesterday. I did these studies after 7 p.m., the sun peaking through clouds from time to time. The subtle colors and patterns in the water kept me intrigued.

Today the lake is choppy and the wind brisk. It may calm down this evening. At least it's in the 80's. Our first night here the temp reached a low of 46!!!!! It's July for goodness sakes :) Great sleeping weather though.

  1. 16 hours is wayyyyyyy too long in the car. Enjoyed the shimmering water. Judy

  2. I have to agree, 16 hours is a lonnnnnnnnnng time. Hopefully you decided it was worth it as soon as you got there. Both watercolors look great. I look forward to seeing many more, and hearing that the evenings warm up a bit!

  3. Where on earth did you go that took 16 hours?! My 6-hour drive down to the coast to visit my grand-children is the limit as far as I'm concerned. Love your water painting Pam - you make it look so easy.

  4. Maree, I know 16 hours makes one's stomach turn! We live close to Savannah, GA and travel up to the Finger Lakes region of western NY (south of Rochester) . Going home will be interesting as since Rob's back surgery, he can't sit for long periods of time. May have to buy a one-way airline ticket for him, though I really don't want to do 16 hours by myself with the dogs. Hmmmmmmmm.
