The theme of the next issue of ArtNews, the Arts Council of Beaufort County's quarterly publication, is Innovation: Science, Technology & the Arts.
I have been invited to author the All Art is Local column. I love the theme. It's a natural fit with my love of nature journaling. I'm very honored to partake!
This is one of the images I will use to show how I innovate with science.
This is beautiful! I love the composition and the color.
ReplyDeleteGreat job.

Thank you Barb! Good to hear from you :)
ReplyDeleteRead this post in Google Reader this morning and was then called away from my computer. Lovely sketch. This is how I like to decorate my antique desk. Thanks. Very inspirational. And congrats on your column.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love those Micron pens, too! Do you mostly use watercolor pencils?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maree and Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteYes, Elizabeth, for the most part my studies are done with a set of 12 Derwent wc pencils and NIJI WaterBrushes. I love their ease of use and portability. I have been including a mini set of watercolors lately.
The wc pencils have helped me understand the ins and outs of watercolor. I love using traditional wc in the studio but used to be timid about plein air painting with them. I think sketching in nature has helped my confidence level all the way around.
Thanks, Pam!
ReplyDeleteMy journey was opposite yours in that I used watercolor in my journals, but had to take Kate's online class to learn how to effectively use watercolor pencils. I like the Derwent wc pencils, too. I have to say that any kind of water media is tricky out in the field!
